Healthy Living: Getting ready for some fun in the sun… pre-summer detox
I have been thinking about doing a cleanse for a while now, but thought it would probably be best to wait until I got back from vacation. Not that there will be any excessive eating or drinking, sitting on the beach or by the pool in the sun. Now don’t be jealous, okay you can be a little, cause the weather up here in the Northeast has not been very nice. When I get back however there will a serious detox going on.
I love shopping at Whole Foods, not only for their local produce, seafood and meats, but let’s face it pretty much every time you walk into a Whole Foods Market in your community there is a demo going on. One day while “food shopping” I stumbled across a Blue Print Juice demonstration. I learned a bunch about the product from one of the Blue Print ambassadors and the drinks were really delicious. I always thought “cleanse”, aw it probably will taste like chalk, but these juices are really delicious. Now they are a little expensive, but totally worth it. The Blue Print Juice is different than the Blue Print Cleanse, same company, same great taste, but you can grab a juice while you’re out and about and it will last longer. Both the juices and the cleanse are organic, cold pressed, and 100% raw. The amount of veggies you get in a 16oz. serving is ridiculous.
Green: kale, apple, ginger, romaine, spinach, cucumber, celery, parsley and lemon (6lbs. of veggies, yikes!)
Red: beet, apple, carrot, lemon, ginger
White: cashew, vanilla, cinnamon, agave
Gold: pineapple, apple, mint
Yellow: lemon, cayenne, agave
Yellow 2: lime, ginger, lemon, agave
So those are the juices, they are all delicious… Okay so my favorite is the yellow, followed by green and then white.
On the cleanse website http://blueprintcleanse.com there are three different cleanses you can choose from: Renovation, foundation, excavation, pretty much beginner, intermediate and advanced, The cleanse is different than the juices at Whole Foods because they are delivered to your house and they only last a few days plus you get a consultant, it is still 6 juices a day. While cleansing you can have as much water as you want, and I think you may be able to eat an avocado if your starving… but most importantly make sure you are filling up that reusable glass; stainless steel or ceramic thermos as often as you can… as you know with anything keeping hydrated is the most important.
There is also a book The 3-Day Cleanse that the founders of Blue Print, Zoe Sakoutis & Erica Huss, wrote. I have already downloaded it onto my kindle to read on the plane so I can get ready for my detox when I get back.
The best thing about doing a cleanse is that it detoxifies your body, leaving you feeling a little healthier than before. In addition to the 3-day cleanse I am also going to get back into yoga. Yoga really heals your mind, body and soul and is the only time I have ever been able to block out the craziness in life and just breath. Im excited to start May off on the right track and continue on that path thru the summer.
So when I return from vacation I will start my Blue Print Cleanse and let y’all know how it goes.
