San Francisco, CA has just joined Concord, MA in banning the sale of single-use plastic bottled water. San Francisco’s ban was spearheaded by the Think Outside the Bottle Campaign, who successfully pressured city Board of Supervisors into adopting the ban.
For the moment, the San Francisco ban only applies to sales that occur on city property, however, according to Board of Supervisors President David Chiu, more restrictions may follow in the future. Chiu stated last week that: “If we can do this on public property and folks understand that this is absolutely doable, then we can look at next steps.”
