AquaHealth, Incorporated - 25 Years in Business!

AquaHealth, Incorporated - 25 Years in Business!

This month, 25 years ago, Barclay Hansen and I started AquaHealth in his rented apartment in Dedham, Massachusetts. Our concept was simple: To deliver great fountain water at a fraction of the cost of bottled water to restauranteurs.

Our mission has expanded from this simple premise to include sparkling and flavored waters to corporations, hotels, colleges, military bases and many other venues. Our message of sustainable, high quality value-based beverages has helped us reach many corners of the United States and other countries.

We could not have grown and succeeded without the help of our investors, our fantastic employees, our creative suppliers and our irreplaceable customers.

I’ve enjoyed the ride, and with today’s customers, I am as excited about our business as I have ever been!

Plastic Bottled Water: Banned in San Francisco

Ban the Bottle

San Francisco, CA has just joined Concord, MA in banning the sale of single-use plastic bottled water. San Francisco’s ban was spearheaded by the Think Outside the Bottle Campaign, who successfully pressured city Board of Supervisors into adopting the ban.

For the moment, the San Francisco ban only applies to sales that occur on city property, however, according to Board of Supervisors President David Chiu, more restrictions may follow in the future. Chiu stated last week that: “If we can do this on public property and folks understand that this is absolutely doable, then we can look at next steps.”

With AquaHealth, the hospitality industry can increase profits and green their business at the same time.Thankfully, for the hospitality industry in San Francisco, AquaHealth’s Sustainable BottledQuality Water on Demand program enables them to continue to offer bottled quality water to their patrons while increasing profits. Our program ditches plastic bottles, the focus of the ban, and gives restaurants and hotels the ability to produce bottled quality water on-site that is served in our reusable, earth-friendly, glass bottles.

Enough with the Snow Already!

Snowy New England

I know I speak for every member of the AquaHealth team when I say that we are proud to live and work in New England. That being said, after getting nearly three feet of snow in the past week, it would not be an understatement to say that we are all very jealous at the moment of our colleagues in the Las Vegas office. After what we have been through, the high of 48 degrees and sunny we are expecting on Saturday sounds absolutely tropical.

Also, if you’re wondering….the picture is above is a table currently residing in snowy Massachusetts. The amount of snow covering it is not photoshopped or altered in any way shape or form. Ridiculous…

The Science of Snowmaking at Sochi

Ever wonder how snow is made? To prepare for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia has used more than 230 million gallons of water to make snow for the skiing and snowboarding competitions! Check out the video below from the New York Times for an explanation behind the science of how they made that much snow….

Sochi Water: Unfiltered

Sochi Water

Between missing manhole covers, teams of men shooting dogs in the street, and a shortage of pillows for the athletes, the beginning of the Sochi Olympics has been an unmitigated disaster. And then there is the quality of the water. The photo above is the water from the sinks in the hotel bathrooms around Sochi, which as you can see is a yellowish-brown color. You don’t need to be a water filtration expert like one of the AquaHealth technicians to know that water should not be brown.

Check out this Fox Sports story for more silly stories out of Sochi.
